LOOK3 Mary Ellen Mark workshop

Awhile back I took the plunge and committed myself to the Mary Ellen Mark workshop at LOOK3 Festival of the Photograph, before I could change my mind.  Not that I didn't want to go, but I have yet to find a rich benefactor to fund these things for me.  I spent about a week in class with some very talented photographers, and all around good people.  I have to say, I got probably just as much out of seeing their work every day as I did from Mary Ellen Mark critiquing mine.  It was a very inspiring week, here's a couple photos from class.  Mary Ellen Mark's husband, film director Martin Bell, was on hand for a few days to talk about his films, and help edit our stuff.  I'm still editing the project I found to work on at the workshop, and I'll post those once I'm done.

My fellow students.  The guy second from right (Kurt Stepnitz, busted texting) is actually from MSU, who would have thought I'd have to go all the way to VA to meet a local photographer.

Cynthia and her boys

One of the multitude of good things that came out of the LOOK3 Festival of the Photograph was meeting Cynthia Henebry.  She's a great photographer who, among other things, gives good advice, and inspired me to actually buy, and wear, a dress.  I had to leave the project I was shooting at Acorn to go to Richmond for a day, which as it turns out is where Cynthia lives.  So, while in town, I hung out with her and her family for a bit.  Here's a couple of my favorite images from the day of her and her sons, River and Wendell.

California book is printed!

I got home today from a two-week trip of LOOK3 photo goodness (more on that later) to find my book of California pics has arrived.  It's been a mini-book marathon - this one is because I had a code to get a free book through AsukaBook from the NYC PhotoPlus Expo.  Their books are crazy expensive.  This one is a softcover. I really like the paper, it's super nice quality.  A girl could get used to seeing her photos this big...
Again much thanks to Ryan Wood for helping with the layout and editing.

New promo book arrived!

My new promo book arrived.  Much thanks to Ryan Wood for his help in editing and laying it out.  I only had a couple seconds to take some pics with my phone before running it right back out the door to mail out, but at least it's done now and I can order more.  For those of you that are interested, I ordered the book from Blurb.  Here's a couple shots of the final product.  Nice to see my images so big!
