So, a ton of catching up to do. This year has been crazy, and now somehow it's May and I have a backlog of photos to put up on the blog. So these ones date back to January, I'll try and get caught up from then.
In January Occupy SF had a big "Occupy Wall St. West" day where they surrounded Wells Fargo and blocked entrance to the building, as well as other banks. I covered it for Getty, here's a couple images from the day. (I forgot how wet it was that day...every time it rains I remember I need better rain gear, then as soon as the rain stops I immediately forget. Problem solved! It's magic. Until it rains again.)
The first one made it to a few different Week in Pictures websites - msnbc.com, London Telegraph...can't remember where all else. And I remember the Rolling Stone using the last one, apparently because they thought the guy looked like an octopus...

Bimbo's 365 Club
Bimbo's 365 Club in San Francisco is an old-school of a club as I've ever been in. I recently shot their famous fishbowl for the New York Times. For special events, and sometimes private parties, a nude woman performs in the fishbowl - a crazy contraption where she performs down in the basement and her image is reflected up into a tiny fishbowl behind the bar, where she looks like she is swimming. The role of the woman in the fishbowl is called Dolphina, and many women have played this role for the past 70-plus years. Here's the edit from the New York Times for the job, here's the edit from the Bay Citizen, and here's some of my favorites:

Mmm cheese...
Bi-Rite is a local small grocery store in the Mission District. I got to hang out there recently for the San Francisco Chronicle. Check out the story and more photos here.
Community garden
Here's another look at some editing - I shot a community garden, the edit from the New York Times is here, and from the Bay Citizen is here.
Baypoint for the NYT and Bay Citizen
More assignment work - I recently shot Baypoint for a story about the economy there. It's in the east bay, and it was my first time there. It's interesting now to be working for the New York Times and the Bay Citizen, since they have access to the same photos. They often pick very different edits of my work, and this was an example. Below are some of the photos from the shoot, and here's the New York Times edit and the Bay Citizen edit.

Occupy Oakland closes down port again
Yesterday Occupy Oakland protestors closed down the port again for the day. They marched there and blocked the port for three separate shift changes.
